Providence College graduate and track star Emily Sisson is prepared to go the distance this year in Paris.

Sisson is one of several Rhode Islanders competing in the 2024 Olympics in Paris. Team USA is sending nearly 600 athletes to the games this summer.

Here’s how to watch her compete during the games.

Who is Emily Sisson?

Emily Sisson will be making her second straight Olympic appearance, this time participating in one of the oldest events in the Olympics – the marathon.

She will be part of the three-woman team from the United States to qualify for the marathon. Sisson secured her place by finishing second at February’s national trials in Orlando.

“I’ve always dreamed of going to the Olympics in the marathon,” Sisson said on the Team USA website. “I feel like the further I go in distance, the stronger I am – and I hope the more competitive I can be.”

Sisson qualified for Tokyo in the 10,000 meters and finished in 10th place in 2021. She set a American marathon record at Chicago in 2022 and will race alongside Fiona O’Keeffe and Dakotah Lindwurm.  She is a two-time NCAA champion with the Friars.

How to watch Emily Sisson run the marathon

The Women’s Marathon will be streamed live on the 2024 Paris Olympics website. It will take place Aug. 11 at 2 a.m. (all times are converted to Eastern Time).

The marathon route will pass by some of the most iconic sights in Paris, including the Palace of Versailles.
