Before the Twilight casting was announced, Stephenie kept engaged with fans on her personal blog. It’s where she revealed actors that she thought would be a good fit for various roles. That includes Jacob.

In 2007, she said that Steven Strait was her “favorite Jacob Black.” There was a caveat to that, though, which instantly struck him from truly being considered.

“He’s a New Moon – aged Jacob (which means he’d be way, way too old to ever play Jacob if they ever made New Moon into a movie. Sigh. This is sort of what Jacob looks like in my head, though.)” Stephenie wrote.
