Red Sox at Astros lineups for Aug. 19, 2024

After splitting a four-game series at Baltimore, the Red Sox will look to turn the tables when they head to Houston for a three-game series with the Astros, beginning tonight at Minute Maid Park.

The Astros swept the Sox at Fenway Park earlier this month, and have won nine of their last 10 to seize control of the American League West, opening a four-game lead on the Mariners. Houston’s bullpen should be in good shape after starters Hunter Brown and Framber Valdez each went seven innings in a pair of wins over the White Sox on Saturday and Sunday.

Tanner Houck, winless in his last five starts, will get the nod for the Red Sox in the opener. Houston will counter with Yusei Kikuchi, who is 2-0 with a 2.20 ERA in three starts, striking out 24 in 16⅔ innings since being acquired from the Blue Jays at the trade deadline.
